Tile Installations

When it comes to tile installation, we love to see the transformation tile can create, whether if it’s a tub surround, shower stall, flooring or a backsplash tile can enhance your living space. Although its very important to pick the correct installers that are going to use the best products that match your budget, no matter where your tiles are installed it's important to use the correct methods along with waterproofing if in a wet area. Tile work is a art and there are a lot of people that say we can do that, yes anyone can set a tile but is it being done correctly? At M Milne Projects Inc we will always ensure that each and every step is done with care as if it was our own home

Drywall & Finishing

We install drywall as per the building code and requirements set forth by the national building code when it comes to finishing drywall it can get very dusty in the areas getting finished and we use a machine called a merkia which has a powered sanding head and the system also collects a very large portion of the dusts created by the process not by any means is it dust free and cant done dust free but with our process we can ensure your that we will collect as much of the dust as possible to keeps it out of your environment, it is also very important to make sure whoever does this process to shut down the furnace in the building during this process as the dusts are very fine and not compatible with furnaces.

Flooring

Luxury vinyl plank

when it comes to flooring not all flooring is created the same, lvp (luxury vinyl plank) is a great product with a lot of choices, although they are not all made the same, and it's important to take into consideration the thickness of the wear layer. LVP flooring was designed for a floor that is flawless and does not shift as the uneven areas or shifting could cause the floor to split at the seams, some lvp flooring comes with an attached backing but not in all cases but non the less its always very important to follow the recommendations of the manufacturer and use an underlay

laminate flooring

when deciding if laminated flooring is the correct choice a few things to take into consideration would be, does the area get wet if so its important to use a product that will provide the longest resistant’s against water, I would suggest a min of 72 hrs leaving enough time for any water to evaporate (laminate should never be used in a washroom which contains a tub or shower). Another very important thing to take into consideration would be is the floor perfectly even or does it shift at all, if u answer yes to either then its suggested that you use a 12 mil or better which it designed for the floor to move a little or be installed over a area which is not perfect saving time and money preparing the area for a product like LVP.

Rolled vinyl

We do work offer rolled vinyl although with LVP flooring rolled vinyl is starting to be fazed out as the prep for rolled vinyl and LVP flooring as are similar in requirements, but rolled is always a option

Carpeting

There are a few choices when it comes to carpeting.

Kanja Back does not require to be glued down nor does it require to be stretched and secured with carpet tack strips which saves time on installation

Carpet tiles that will involve your sub straight to be fairly even as there are a lot of seams that need to match up, and an uneven sub straight will in time show in the seams. Carpet tiles come with two options the first one is peel and stick which will not last as long as glue down, whereas glue down is another option that will provide a much longer-lasting bond between the sub-straight and carpet tile. Carpet tiles are also a great choice because u can replace a single tile if ever required.

Traditional carpeting as I refer to it requires the permeator of the room to have carpet tack strips to be installed which will hold it firmly to the sub-straight, once the carpet is loose laid it requires to be stretched unlike Kanga back. Tradition carpet and kanga back do not require to be glued down although with kanga back it does not hurt to use a little on the perimeter of the room in spots to help ensure it will held down

Painting Interior & Exterior

At M Milne Projects inc we take a lot of pride in only using products from Sherwin Williams paint, one of the leaders in paint, before entering the industry of building construction Sherwin Williams Paints was an industrial paint supplier supplying products to companies for coating things like bridges and farm equipment.

Interior painting

You can rest assured that we will very carefully and meticulously go through the areas that we are going to paint to be certain that we do a very thorough job of patching

For all our interior painting we like to only use a product called opulence which provides a long-lasting washable surface that will last for many years. We also use a machine called a Merika which helps reduce the amount of dust created by sanding, this machine has a powered sanding head and also is attached to a special vacuum that sucks up most partials

Exterior painting

For all our exterior painting we take a lot of pride in making sure that all areas are prepped with care to assure that the products shall last the life suggested by our suppliers, on all wood surfaces we will first scrape all loose paint if required and will use a power sander to finish any rough and uneven surfaces our product of choice is called duration which if installed correct and areas prepped correctly it comes with a lifetime warranty supplied by our supplier Sherwin Williams paints. For all concrete surface areas like stucco or brick, we suggest that all areas are pressure washed to ensure the sub-straight is clean and free of dirt. The product of our choice for concrete is A 100 a long-lasting strong bonding product designed for concrete coating. When it comes to areas where water may get in behind the shell of your home we always take care to ensure that those areas are caulked or re-caulked, along with using an exterior grade spackle or wood filler to fill in any required areas.

Vinyl Siding, Hardy Board, Stucco & Stone

Vinyl Siding

This is a great product when used in the correct environment, nowadays with the sun getting so much more intense than years ago it's only going to gain a level of intensity, in the direct sun at the peak of the hot days, it can tend to warp and even dis color caused by the sun. although if installed in the correct cases and manner it is a very cost-effective product to use. No matter which product you decide to protect your home, stucco, vinyl siding or hardy board  with it is very crucial to always use a building wrap that will prevent water from getting in behind the surface of your finishing which will result in a very costly repair

Hardy Board Siding

Hardy board siding is a lightweight concrete-based product that comes in many colors and sizes, it comes in lengths and sizes very similar to vinal siding or can even be sourced in a large format like a 4ftx8ft sheet, and provides a very good layer to protect your home from the elements, unlike vinal products hardy board will never warp due to the intensity of the sun and its unheard of the product fading due to the sun. No matter which product you decide to protect your home, stucco, vinyl siding or hardy board, its very crucial to always use a building wrap that will prevent water from getting in behind the surface of your finishing which will result in a very costly repair.

Stucco Siding

Stucco is a product that has been around for a very long time and has proven itself to be a great cost-effective route to go stucco has had some advancement over the years to currently offer two styles of finishing, one being the traditional dash coat and is referred to as skip trowel finish both are very effective ways to protect you home. For the Ethier style the starting process is still the same which is a layer of building wrap, stucco wire, and then a scratch coat followed by a brown coat that the desired finish gets applied to . No matter which product you decide to protect your home, stucco, vinyl siding or hardy board, its very crucial to always use a building wrap that will prevent water from getting in behind the surface of your finishing which will result in a very costly repair.

Stone Siding

A stone façade is always a great addition to a well-planned exterior wrap of a building and has many different styles of products and finishes  that can be picked through like stucco it does not warp or fade from the sun. the correct process to apply stone to a build is very similar to stucco we do not use stucco wire but instead, we use a product called diamond lath which it a tighter woven material with holes shaped like a diamond. No matter which product you decide to protect your home, stucco, vinyl siding, or hardy board, it's very crucial to always use a building wrap that will prevent water from getting in behind the surface of your finishing which will result in a very costly repair.

Window Replacement & Egress Windows

We offer window replacement as well as window repairs, we can offer double-pain or triple-pain windows depending on budgets and timelines as triple-pain windows do have a longer lead time to get from one of the two suppliers we use. There is a requirement on window opening size for all bedrooms when we are ordering windows, we ensure that we order the correct window size for its application. The best way to replace windows are to do what’s called inserts that would fit into an existing opening, if you alter the size of the opening to make a larger opening then a permit is always required.

egress windows in basements

if you're deciding to create a new bedroom in a basement whether it already has a window or not there are requirements in the size of the opening of the window that will determine if it meets egress specs. We can cut new openings or enlarge the size of current openings to ensure they meet egress sizes. This is a process that requires a building permit to ensure that your opening are being done correctly and supported correctly as required

Roofing, Soffit, Fascia & Eavestroughs

Roofing is one of those things that not all companies will put the same amount of care into it as others, not all companies will use a product over your whole roof under the shingles which in our eyes is mandatory, all companys are required and should be install one course of a product called ice and water the need for this product is to prevent ice and or water from getting under the first 3 ft of your roof were very often we get ice forming in the spring or water getting under during very heavy rain storms. We feel that its worth the investment to lay two courses of ice and water to help give that extra protection from our elements which would give about 5 ft from the eaves, along with covering the whole roof with an underlayment material so if a shingle ever fail it does not create costly damage from entering you home (investment). if your roof does not have a current drip edge we will install as required this product will direct rain or meltwater into your eavestrough and help prevent rot to the fascia boards on your home.

Foundation Repair & Waterproofing

When it comes to foundation waterproofing there are several ways to ensure that you will no longer take on water, but we at M Milen Projects Inc. believe that more is better and a lot of companies will on use one method. One method is blue skin which is a membrane that is glued to the outside of your foundation after it has been cleaned free of dirt its very important that this membrane gets wrapped over the footing of the home. Another way to use foundation wrap is called delta wrap which is secured to the foundation with screws and anchors above grade a little it is next to impossible to ensure you wrap the footings with delta wrap as it's not flexible and in some cases, the water can sip between the foots and the base on a foundation wall, this is very common.

When in the budget we like to use both methods because if the building ever moves it can create the first method to release itself from the foundation which will compromise the fix, it does not happen often but I have seen it happen in the past, and in the second method it is a large rolled dimpled sheet that gets secured to the foundation over top of blue skin in most cases its secured within 6 inches below grade just above grade or and if the foundation is already exposed in our eyes it just makes sense.

Electrical/ Plumbing

Over the years of being in the building construction industry, we have had the opportunity to form very good relationships with talented sub trades. When looking for someone, its important to ensure  that their registered at the current city you live in and are able to pull permits. For something like replacing a switch, tap, tub or light fixture a permit is not required although other items will require a permit such as finishing a bathroom that is already roughed in for the plumbing. This process will ensure the proper steps have been taken.
